About our company
and methodologies
We are a
small company that performs mostly contract work for our clients. When
large projects or time constraints require extra labor, we
enlist the services of subcontractors and
then integrate
their content with our systems into a final product. Because
we are located in Alaska, we have had years of uninterrupted
time to conduct research and develop our training system software
products.
The advent of
the Internet and the advances in computer hardware have resulted
in enormous savings for companies that otherwise
would have rooms full of employees performing the same functions.
Our system serves as the infrastructure to support these technologies
with only a few employees.

our integrated programming. American Multimedia was

the second annual TeleMedicine conference at the University of
Hawaii in 1997.
The
following notes briefly outline our compliance with standards,
integration, interoperability, cross-platform issues, reliability
and security concerns in the development
of a multimedia production.
STANDARDS
Our open-architecture models accommodate the input, processing
and output of standards based data formats such as SQL, XML,
MDB, ASP, ASP, JS, PHP etc. We have a handle on the scores of
various media formats and the ability to convert any of them
for use in our products. Of course, we can incorporate PDF and
other de-facto standard formats such as those produced by the
Microsoft family of products.
American
Multimedia continues to use "older" software that contains
tools that have been removed from the “new and improved” versions
of the giants’ products.
We do this to perform tasks at the building block level,
and in some cases produce output that is no longer achievable in
the "newer" versions.
While the giants continue to vie for market share, and try to develop
the all-in-one perfect product, those of us in the trenches need
usable solutions today. We are happy to say that our programs function
on systems all the way back to Windows 95 and Mac OS 7.3.
INTEGRATION
We aren’t holding our breath waiting for the perfect package
that delivers everything from a single vendor. In many cases some
small companies who have enough market share to prosper well into
the future will not speak to or sell out to the other software
giants. The reason that our integrated solution is better than
the sum of all of the big guys is the simple fact that we have
licenses to use the best from all of them and can code them to
speak to one another. Anyway, having an all-in-one solution package
would leave developers and the end users at the mercy of the giant.
INTEROPERABLITY AND CROSS-PLATFORM COMPATABILITY
While the giants slug it out for total dominance, we win. By producing
output that is visible on both the PC and the MAC, on the Web
or as stand-alone programs, we can enjoy the best of all software
and hardware worlds and never fear the big bad wolf.
RELIABILITY
We have NEVER had a failed installation of our product model. During
the tests we have conducted since 1997, our product has NEVER crashed.
That is pretty amazing, even to us, because we stand on the shoulders
of the operating system software, middleware, and then our own
code.
SECURITY
Because of the endless pursuit of hackers, pirates and malicious
virus authors, we provide program installation, operability,
and functionality in any of 3 ways:
On a per-workstation basis using DVDs and/or CD-ROMs, over an intranet,
wide area network, and on the Internet. Hardware locks, encryption,
authorization and password protection can also be applied to all
formats.
